Felicity City, CA
« Previous Main Next »

Founded in May 11, 1986, the community was named after a town mentioned in Jacques-André Istel's book 'Coe the Good Dragon,' and inspired by his wife, Felicia.
Do not know how to describe this 'town' of 6 people. But as you can see they have spent a lot of time and money. The town is the self described center of the world. Surrounding the buildings are huge long slabs of granite with the history of the world on them.
Guess they think that a million years from now this might explain the world to whoever discovers this place.
It was a bit eerie walking around Felicity. I was the only one - I walked to the top of the hill to look in the church. When I reached the top the bells rang. I jumped - thinking there might be cult like folks waiting to drag me in. (The bell actually rang at the top of each hour)

Very nice composition Pieter. Thirty miles east of us is an old river town named Felicity. In our case the residents refer to their town as 'Flea-City'; maybe something for your townspeople to inscribe on their granite slabs. :)

I like the viewpoint you used for this shot. Nice placement of these major elements. The eerie feel of the place comes through with your description. A strong picture!

It looks like a scary place, though not the ones we are typically used to.
