Today is a holiday (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) Schools were closed.
For this boy it did mean FREEDOM.
Freedom to take his skateboard to the beach and ponder his day while waiting for friends. I wonder, on this day (or any other day), if he thought about the sacrifices people like Dr. King made, for those who needed a voice in this country (and the world).

Great photo and great quote. I've written it down on my flipchart here, it is one of the best and deepest quotes I have heard in a long time.
Love this composition, really great. I hope a lot of kids think about what we can take for granted today, but was not always so.

That quote reminds me of another one I heard recently,but I have no idea who said it, "Evil prevails if the good guys do nothing."
I worked on MLK day...and I'll admit to not thinking about much but work and snow.....
This is a great shot..the composition is incredible and I love how all the colours are similar with a red thread. Great.
