Many years ago (like 30 plus) a dear Japanese friend, Yo, had an abacus. I really admired it and he ended up giving it to me. Little did I realize that it belonged to his grandfather. This year I received a short note from him, now retired and in his early seventies, that all is well.
Yo does not check this site so I feel comfortable in saying that this coming week I am sending him a package with his Grandfather's abacus so he can share it with his grandchildren.

The abacus makes a fine repetitive image. I like the angles and motion it seems to have. It's a fine gesture to return the abacus that must mean so much to Yo's family.

Now isn't that just very nice of you. And it looks like you have taken good care of it over the years. I love this story, it is so different from our consumer society today. Some people do still value valuable items.
