Sacramento Sunset

Huge rain clouds stack up against the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The highest peak in this mountain range is 14,505 feet, 4,421 m.

You are viewing the Sacramento skyline looking east. The mountain range peaks are approx. 100 miles east of Sacramento

Rain storms in the winter months come of the Pacific ocean, drop some rain on Sacramento but then really unload their moisture as they stack up against the mountains. This is why the Tahoe skiing is so popular since they average 300 to 500 inches of snow during winter.
