Goodby Grandpa
« Previous Main Next »

This is more about the story than the photograph. I live in one of the most restricted areas of the world regarding air pollution (California). When I saw the smoke I thought it was a fire... then I saw what it really was.... I still cannot believe it... Have a nice day :)

I remember after my father was creamated, some 25 years ago, we carried his ashes in a small wooden box across the country, hard to believe (in some respects) that life can be reduced to a poof of smoke and ashes, but the soul has long left

Your caption is so bad but in a really good way haha ;) I thought there was some kind of system for containing everything (smoke included)?? I guess not. Aside from that, I like the way the smoke fills the sky and the sign anchors the bottom of the photo.

The body derived smoke rises, much like a river runs to the sea...so nature can recycle! :-)

euhm, this is a bid morbid :-| But in regards to your statement : you're absolutely right. But keep in mind that burying people isn't that environment friendly either...

At a recent funeral at a crematorium I was amused by the no smoking signs in the waiting rooms

Next to Japan (I think), CA. has the most strict environmental law in the world. This smoke here is definitely a death sentence.

Oh wow, I've never heard of this before. Very interesting indeed.

I've read about this before.
Did you know that they have this monumental crematorium @ Père Lachaise (the famous Paris Cemetery where Jim Morrisson rests).
